3rd / 4th Grade Division
This division is still very much an entry level division, especially for 1st year players. The emphasis of this division is to continue to teach the fundamentals skills of basketball (dribbling, passing, shooting and defense). In addition, we introduce a more competitive game schedule.
In the division, we begin to group the teams into levels. We use the simple categories of A and B to designate the differences. These levels are usually determined by ability and sometimes just size.
Games are broken into 4 quarters. The A group plays 2 quarters as does the B group. The rules are the same for both groups.
There are NO 3 pointers allowed in this division.
Defense is limited! We emphasize man to man defense (no double teaming).
The officiating in this division may be 1st year officials. We only use one official and the emphasis of the official is to run a smooth and fair game.
Parent and spectator conduct is so important at this level and moving forward. There should NEVER be any negative interaction with a coach or a referee. We want our games to be competitive but we must always be respectful to the volunteer coaches and referees.
This is basically it. Please reach out the League if you have any questions. Coaching opportunities are often available. If you are thinking you might be interested, please contact the league @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
